How are you going to keep them down on the farm?

by Dietrich Schmitz

It was a most popular song back in 1919 by Nora Bayes, "How are you going to keep them down on the farm?" with the follow on "after they've seen Paree (Paris).

It is familiar to me only for nostalgic purposes as my Father-in-law often used that line (God rest his soul).

Today, I am reminded of it in connection with current technology events.  The thinking goes:

"How is Microsoft going to keep them down on the farm?"

The answer is obviously, they can't.  That they can't is underscored by their transparent attempt via proxy (FairSearch.org) to litigate against Google and Android for naught.  It's too late Microsoft.  Paris is just too much to resist.

And, so Linux will continue to thrive in Microsoft's wake.

Give it some thought.  Remember this song from the post World War I era and think about dear Nora.
